We want everyone to feel welcome at Grace Life church and to feel free to enter into the joy of the Lord. Are you a first-time guest of Grace Life Church? The information below will help you know what to expect on your first visit! If you have questions, feel free to contact the church office!
Worship Songs The first half-hour of service is worship led by our worship team. Many of the contemporary Christian songs we sing contain scripture verse and scripture paraphrase set to music. The songs we use to worship the Lord are diverse and we project the words on screen to invite the congregation to sing and participate.
Lifting Hands, Clapping, Shouting, Dancing. You might see physical expressions of joy and love for God during worship. People clap, lift their hands, and sometimes dance. These are expressions of worship and love for God who is worthy of all praise.
Psalm 63:4 (NLT): "I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer." Psalm 47:1 (NLT): "Come, everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise!" Psalm 149:3 (NLT): "Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp."
No Liturgy or Written Prayers We desire the Holy Spirit to lead people and meetings rather than only be led by a set routine or program. We allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us during our service and this affects us in things like worship song choice and prayer and other ways we can meet the needs of the congregation. Our desire is to lift up Jesus Christ as we magnify Him with our whole hearts. Come expecting to meet with the Lord and His people, drawing love and grace from Him and each other.
Prophecies and Messages We believe each person is given spiritual gifts and that they are an expression of the Holy Spirit acting in us. These expressions of the Spirit are for Christ’s church today, and that He has given instruction in His Word concerning their purpose and use for edification. Some of these gifts are prophecy and messages. When members of the congregation receive prophecies or messages, we ask that they be shared first with church leadership before sharing them with the entire congregation during service. This lets us confirm that the prophecy or message is indeed intended for the entire church on that day. Individuals may then share their message with the body.
I Cor. 12:7-10 (NLT): "A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said."
Laying On of Hands and Anointing With Oil For Healing Our church leaders (and the congregation) often prays for one another before, during, and after service. When we pray, we sometimes lay hands on the individual (or group) we are praying for.
James 5:14 (NLT): "Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord."
Loving People into lasting relationships with God by connecting them to Jesus, family, and others.
